On a light ground the artwork is rebuilt rather than reversed. The portrait is redrawn in deep ink with red held in the thorns, and the back text runs dark against the cloth instead of glowing off it.
It is the most detailed read of the engraving in the capsule. Every line in the face survives; nothing is lost to the dark.
The body is ripped and frayed across the shoulders and hem, the collar and hem left raw. A crown made of thorns was never clean.
305 GSM pure cotton, boxy through the body with a dropped shoulder. The heaviest weight in the capsule, so the distressing reads as construction rather than damage.
